The rug ‘Congaree’ by Alexandra Volskaya unfolds like a woven landscape, where natural motifs and graphic fragments converge into a single poetic composition. Created through a collage-inspired process, it fuses sketches and textures into a harmonious whole, animated by the interplay of light and shadow. Crafted from wool and eucalyptus, the piece balances warmth with a subtle sheen, while its varied pile heights and hand-knotted techniques give rhythm, depth, and tactility—inviting both the eye and the hand to linger on its shifting surfaces.

Alexandra Volskaya is a visionary and conceptual designer whose work bridges disciplines and cultures. Born in Moscow, she studied architecture and design before expanding her creative practice through life in Tokyo, Paris, Milan, and New York. These formative years laid the foundation for her unique approach — creating objects that speak to the inner world through harmony, structure, and beauty.
In 2023, Alexandra released a limited capsule collection of garments developed with an architectural mindset, blurring the lines between clothing and spatial design. The same year, she won the Art de Vivre design competition for best carpet design, leading to the production of her winning pieces.
