Alexey Drozhdin’s series of glass vases Heian (Jap. 平安京 Heian-kyō, “the capital of peace and tranquility”) draws inspiration from the golden age of Japanese history and the grid-like layout of Heian, present-day Kyoto. Each textured vase is blown into an oak mold that gradually burns away, ensuring the uniqueness of every piece.
